Silsby, High Hill and Cuddle Lakes
silsby lake LODGE - American Plan Main lodge
Silsby Lake Lodge is located 400 miles north of Winnipeg, MB. This is in the heart of some of the best Giant Pike fishing territory in Canada. Our lodge is nestled into the pines and Aspens on a secluded island getaway. A direct flight on our private charter from Winnipeg, MB will have you casting for trophy fish by 10 a.m. the morning you depart Winnipeg.
Few lakes in Canada trigger the kind of emotion that keeps Silsby Lake Lodge guests coming back year after year. This crystal clear glacial lake on the 55th parallel is home to some of the largest Northern Pike in the world. Silsby is blessed with key natural habitats for trophy sized pike. The contoured coves and points, shallow bays with deep drop-offs, rocky reefs and plenty of cabbage weed beds are full of giant pike roaming for food. Silsby also has plenty of rivers and creeks for spawning grounds in the spring. The creek from Silsby to High Hill has been named the "Aquarium" as a boat passing through it will see hundreds of trophy sized pike swimming in 2 ft. of water. This creek is "Off Limits" during the spring to eliminate any pressure and stress on these fish during the spawn. |
"Hi Sam, Here are the photos of the 4 trophy size Northern Pike I caught between Wednesday June 21 and Friday June 23rd, 2023. It was my first time fishing for Northern Pike and definitely the best fishing experience of my life. Bruce, our guide, did a great job putting us on the fish. Shore lunch was delicious as were the evening meals. Great people working at your lodge. Thanks so much!" Patrick Strutzel
This varied habitat gives us hundreds of great places to fish. There is no need for expensive fly-outs or long boat rides at Silsby. In fact, you can reach any point on the lake within 20 minutes from the lodge. In addition to our trophy pike, we also have excellent fishing for Walleye. It's very common for our guests to catch up to 50 Walleye. The Walleye will average 22 inches and guests have caught many Walleye in the 24-28 inch range. The mornings are usually spent catching Walleye for the upcoming shore lunch at noon. After a delicious shore lunch with homemade bannick it's out on the water, again, in search of monster pike. Our catch-n-release policy gives our guests a lot of opportunities for hook ups with giant pike. These ferocious fish will run you out of line, if you are not prepared. In fact, we had a couple different occasions this year where a rod was ripped out of a fisherman's hand. Bad news for the fisherman, but a good "fish story" none the less. |
We have 4 different guest cabins that can accommodate up to 16 people. Each group will have their own private cabin/s depending on the size of the group. All guests will gather at the main lodge for meals and/or entertainment. We have a store where guests can purchase beverages, snacks, tackle, merchandise and more. And, of course, you can't forget the bonfire pit where fish stories are told everynight over a crackling fire. We have made many improvements to the accommodations here at Silsby with more to come. Improvements include air conditioners in the guest cabins, oil burning heaters for round the clock heat, new furniture, new deck and patio furniture, new bathroom fixtures, new lounge ceiling, new metal roof on main lodge, new sections of dock, and more.
|
We have fully insulated log-sided cabins with screened in verandahs. Heat is provided by oil burning stoves for round the clock comfort. On those chilly days, the staff will start the stove so you come home to a warm cabin. All cabins have carpeted floors and sitting rooms for your comfort. All bathrooms are private with flush toilets, sinks and hot showers. The Cabins have separate bedrooms with two beds in each. All bedding is provided for you. Each day our housekeeper will come in and clean your cabin while you are out fishing.
All of our docks are close to the water and very stable to make it easier for physically challenged people to get in and out of the boats. There is always staff on hand to greet and assist you if needed when you come in from a long day of fighting trophies.
The main lodge building houses the dining room and lounge area with gorgeous views of Silsby Lake. At night, our guests enjoy sitting in the lounge while watching the ball game or playing cards. If you need to tackle a few work projects while at Silsby, the lounge also features a full office setup including WIFI, satellite phone, widescreen laptop, printer, scanner and copier. ALL FREE OF CHARGE AND AVAILABLE 24 HOURS A DAY.
We also have a commissary that is well stocked with snacks, cigars, beer, bottled water and soda. There is a large selection of the fishing tackle available for purchase. And the commissary has a complimentary ice machine for your use.

High Hill Lake Outpost Camp
High Hill Lake is a very special place to the fishermen who visit this lake every year. It is one of the highest per capita trophy Northern Pike lakes in Manitoba. The same catch-n-release policy that we deploy on Silsby Lake also pertains to High Hill. In addition to the world class pike fishing, High Hill produces excellent Walleye fishing for both quantity and quality.
Hi Sam, |
This picturesque 14 mile long lake is unique in it's contour and oval in shape. In the spring, "Barlow Bay" and the famous "Omaha Bay" to the west and the renowned "Bay of Pigs" to the east provide incredible trophy pike fishing in the shallows. In the months of July, August and September, High Hill forms large cabbage weed beds that hold fat trophy pike. The more adventurous person also has the opportunity to travel seven miles down river to Whitley Lake, which is eight miles in length with great shape, structure and surprises off it's own. Caribou, Moose, Bear and Eagles (both Bald and Golden) are common sightings during this adventure.
The Silsby Lake River flows into High Hill Lake where the pretty 5-acre modern outpost is located. Two beautiful long beaches are outside your front door. We have three cabins that hold 4, 4 and 2 guests each. Both large cabins have modern amenities including flush toilets, sinks and hot showers. They are both equipped with full kitchens and we supply all of the cooking utensils, bedding and towels. Both Cabins have generator supplied electricity for your comfort. Our outpost package includes all of the food for your stay. You just need to bring yourself, your fishing gear and your sprit of adventure.

Hi Sam, another great year of fishing with the Fetts. The afternoon I caught this beautiful 47 ½” pike, we found ourselves without any measuring device! Knowing we had a large trophy, we implemented the use of the boat casting platform to mark the length and later get an accurate measurement with a tape. This was my 5th trip with our group to your outpost camps. Great food, great fishing and best of all great service! Look forward to seeing you again next year. -- Rusty Beishline |
Cuddle Lake Outpost Camp
Cuddle Lake outpost is an adventurous person's dream. This long lake offers everything a fishermen looks for in a trophy Pike lake. The spring torrent of incoming and outgoing water from the Utik River breaks up the ice in the bay first, which is where the camp is positioned bringing with it thousands of baitfish and feed for the resident trophy pike and Walleye that have gathered for this once a year feeding frenzy. This lake is known for producing double header trophy northern pike between 41" to 52 " in Length.
I now have exclusive rights to Pritchard Lake, which is just west of Cuddle. Pritchard Lake flows into Cuddle via an impressive set of rapids at the far west end of Cuddle. There are three boats and a tent camp set up at Pritchard Lake. Cuddle guests will have access via a portage trail. Future guests will have endless fishing opportunities between these two lakes and rivers.
The cabins at Cuddle were treated to an extensive renovation this past fall. A new large deck was added to the large cabin. Repeat customers will note many other improvements to the cabins, such as a wall moved within the large cabin to make room for a living room/lounge area with couches, etc. |
In the spring, the fishing in the Utik River is tremendous both up and downstream. When water levels are normal, you can head downstream to the East all the way to the scenic Annesley Lake. Heading west you will have the chance to investigate the remaining 20 miles of bays, islands, and creeks in the lake. Cuddle Lake has had virtually zero fishing pressure by sport fishermen in the last 20 years. There are sure to be records that come out of this lake in the future.
Hey Sam, I just wanted to write a note saying how much we enjoyed our annual fishing trip this year. As you know we have been doing this for years. I can say for all of us that we have never seen fishing like we experienced at Cuddle Lake. My son and I knew it was going to be good when our first cast we both caught 25” inch Northerns. Our group of 8 caught between 1,800 and 2,000 fish over the 5 day period. We caught about 20 over 30”. Although the Big ones alluded us we did catch a 40 and 38 inch. The Walleye were plentiful too and we had walleye for dinner and even made up some fried walleye wrapped in bacon appetizers. We look forward to a future trip to Cuddle. Thanks. Keith Beaucamp |
