Cuddle Lake outpost is only open to fisherpersons for the first three weeks of the season beginning on the last Friday in May. Due to the short season only 15 to 20 fortunate fisherpersons get to fish the lake per year. The spring torrent of incoming and outgoing water from the Atik River breaks up the ice in the bay first, which is where the camp is positioned bringing with it thousands of baitfish and feed for the resident trophy pike and Walleye that have gathered for this once a year feeding frenzy. When all other lodges and outposts are frozen in, Cuddle Lake is open and producing double header trophy northern pike between 41" to 52 " in Length.

Fishing in the Atik River is tremendous both up and downstream during this time. Double headers of trophy pike are common on Cuddle during this break-up period. Imagine yourself and your fishing buddy pulling lures away from 41-43 inch Northern while waiting for the 48 inch monster coming right behind them to strike. This is the most exciting fishing of the year on any of our lakes and it's only available to you on Cuddle Lake for a very short period. If the rest of the lake ice is out during your stay you will have the chance to investigate other bays in the lake. In addition you may also have the chance to access Thom and Pritchard Lakes, which are connected to Cuddle at the west end. Cuddle Lake outpost is a fishing paradise where you are guaranteed to become a Manitoba master angler and very likely a specialist during your short stay.
